Class of ’85 Reunion 2020 REGISTRATION IS OPEN!

May 26, 2020

Hey Brothers,

I hope you all doing well in the face of challenges that our country and Corps have never faced in our lifetime.  We have and will continue to face this challenge with all courage, tenacity and never wielding resolve as we did when we matriculated as Knobs in August of 1981 and faced the heat, yells of Cadre, Hell night and the entire rigors of the Fourth Class system.  I have heard from many of you during this time and I cherish the unbreakable Bond that the Brothers of the Class of 1985 have and the encouragement we give to each other and those impacted around us.  We are a shining beacon of Courage, Hope, Love and Endurance that emanates from within each of us and is visible for all the world to see that “We Wear the Ring" and can and will face any obstacle in our path.  It is my understanding and belief that we will have a Reunion on Campus this November and will attend in full force whether there is football or not.  With that said, REUNION REGISTRATION is now open!!!!  If you register and Homecoming is cancelled we can issue a refund of all fees paid minus the credit card transaction fee that is charged by our merchant service provider.

Key reunion activities will include for the first time a ’85 Captains Choice Golf Tournament and luncheon at Dunes West in Mt. Pleasant and a Skeet Shoot on Thursday (space limited to first 20 shooters to sign up and pay) before the Thursday evening informal dinner for early arrivals at a Restaurant in Mt. Pleasant, the Inaugural Rich Devita Memorial Corn Hole Tournament with a very special guest participant at the Stadium along with registration on Friday morning and a Renewal of The Class of 1985 Wedding Vows of all those that would like to participate at Summerall Chapel after the Parade on Friday led by our own Rev. Tommy Townsend, Rev Buzz Williams and other classmates who are ordained ministers. Next, our Friday evening Class of ’85 Banquet at the reunion hotel headquarters which will be our Hawaiian Lua Class Dinner with live music. the company with the most classmates registered for the reunion will be awarded special prizes. Saturday morning is reserved for the typical on-campus slate of activities, including the open barracks, parade.  Of course, Saturday, just prior to the game, we’ll have our World Famous Class of 1985 Tailgate BBQ and open bar under a giant 40 x 40 tent before we make our triumphant march into the stadium and make all the other classes jealous of our beastliness and all the ladies swoon!!!  Saturday night following the football game will be left open for classmates to hook up with their old buddies (and girlfriends?).

For helpful tips to book your room: Click on the tab for Hotel Reservations

The hotel already booked more rooms than at our 30th reunion. Please book soon so we can ask them for additional rooms so we can all gather there.  They were great for our last 3 big reunions and it has been a great place to gather before and after our events. If we book all 125 rooms we will have the whole Hotel just for our Class. I have also secured permission for the bar to stay open late just for us on Friday and Saturday.  Please direct all of our classmates to the Website or Facebook page (The Citadel Class of 1985) for information and updates and you can forward this email to any that do not receive it. I will also post the as announcement of the Class FB page.

The website and Facebook are going to be our primary way of disseminating information about our reunion and class information. So please check the website often and on FB for updates.  Many of you are on FB but we do not have a good email address for you.  Please check the LOST DAWG page to insure you are not on the list or that you have good contact information for someone on the list.  If you are please email me at wendellarsi@gmail.com with your current email address and your Cadet company. Also, you can register and pay online for all class reunion activities.  We have many new activities planned for the Reunion and our classmate, Steve Litton has been instrumental in putting together for the first time a Swag Store; where you can order all kind of unique Class of 1985 reunion gear that will be shipped to you directly ahead of the reunion. Visit the link on the Swag Store tab at the website to order and pay.  If you have not already done so, please go to the Class website at www.citadel85.com and register and pay with debit or credit card.  The $200 registration fee is mandatory and comes with a Official Reunion shirt that you must select your shirt size and your tailgate party and football ticket for you is now included. This is a $85 savings over the last reunion.  All other items are ala carte and can be chosen to be added to your shopping cart. Please note the you must purchase the open bar separately for you and any guest as well as extra tailgate party passes that include a football ticket for the person.  Even if you or your guest does not intend to go to the football game, a football ticket is required to even get into the Class of ’85 Tailgate. Also, please consider adding funds to the LOST DAWG item in increments of $50. This helped over 12 of our classmates that would not have been able to attend the last reunion but for you generous gifts.
