Class of ’85 Reunion 2015

Nov 1st Update:  Need a Quick Reference Guide to Homecoming Weekend?  Here you are!

Dear Classmate,

Thanks to everyone that has contributed, big and small, to our Class of 1985 Scholarship Drive over the past 5 years.  In celebration of our 30th Reunion and the culmination of our initial fund drive, an anonymous classmate donor has stepped forward and issued a very generous gift challenge to help endow our new Scholarship.  They will contribute an additional $50,000 if we over-achieve our initial $350,000 goal and reach $500,000 by the Reunion.   By the way, there are already over 200 paid Reunion registrations…BE THERE!

AND WE CAN DO IT… WE ARE THAT CLOSE!

As a matter of fact, we are so close that I am not even going to tell you the current number…we need you all to step up now, TODAY, and make this challenge gift happen.   You can multiply the effects of your gift, IF YOU GIVE  NOW, thanks to the generosity of this anonymous classmate donor.
WE ARE FUNDING A SCHOLARSHIP FOREVER… HAVE YOU HELPED??

Only 108 classmates over the past five years have donated anything above the initial $9.85 reunion contribution back in 2010.  Additionally, only 67 have given above $500.  Some of you may have been hanging in the background and letting a few classmates do the heavy lifting, and that’s ok.  BUT NOW, it’s time to do your part….BIG OR SMALL…and help us grab the $50,000 BONUS GIFT!!   This is the time to put in your $250 or $500….or the $5000 or more some of you can afford…you know who you are.  Please join me in presenting that $50,000 invoice stating DUE UPON RECEIPT in front of the entire class in November!!

CITADEL RANKED # 1 AGAIN….Please view the video at the link below or cut/paste this address into your web browser.  This kind of ranking doesn’t just happen on its own…  https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=LFVjACsm2ro This scholarship allows our fine Alma Mater, the #1 Public University in the South for 5 Years running, to recruit quality students in the name of The Class of 1985, empowers a student to attend who may otherwise not afford tuition, and enables the legacy of our great class to live in perpetuity.   Now let’s get busy!!

July 21, 2015—REUNION UPDATE!!!

Hey Brothers the time is drawing closer to our descent on the Holy City for 30th Reunion and a great time of remembrance and revelry.  On behalf of the Reunion Committee, I hope everyone is doing well and anxiously awaiting our time to connect and reconnect with our Citadel Brothers.   We have been working steadily to make this our best reunion yet.  I wanted to update you on new pages of the website, registration and activities and a schedule of events for the weekend for the Class of 1985.  Our website has been updated to include a Lost DAWG page of classmates that we do not have emails on.  To date, we have captured about 40 new emails for our data base from previous Lost DAWG lists that were put on FB.   Also, with Padre Tommy Townsend’s help we have added an In Memoriam page honoring our classmates who have left us way too soon.

The website and Facebook are going to be our primary way of disseminating information about our reunion and class information.  So please check the website often and on FB for updates.  Many of you are on FB but we do not have a good email address for you.  Please check the LOST DAWG page to insure you are not on the list.  If you are please email me at [email protected] with your current email address and your Cadet company. Also, you can register and pay online for all class reunion activities.  If you have not already done so, please go to the Class website at www.citadel85.com and register.  It is simple and has saved us a lot of time and energy over previous reunions with individual checks coming in and such.  We are lagging behind at this time in registrations so please plan on registering soon before the late date of August 31st.  The price after that date goes up by $25 and we must get all of our reunion merchandise(shirts, vests, PT Shirts, tailgate numbers, etc..) ordered by September 1st to insure that it will be here on time for the reunion and that we are not charged a surcharge by any of our vendors for late orders.

Approximately 15 rooms remain our at Reunion Headquarters, The Charleston Harbor Resort and Marina(843-856-0028 or www.charlestonharborresort.com).  Please book soon so we can ask them for additional rooms so we can all gather there.  They were great for our last 2 big reunions and it has been a great place to gather before and after our events.  Please direct all of our classmates to the Website or Facebook page (The Citadel Class of 1985) for information and updates.

Hey Brothers,

It is that time!!  The 30th Reunion is on…mark your calendars for November 6-8, 2015 !!    We are now in the planning stages for our 30th Class Reunion Homecoming 2015!  It is hard to believe it will have been 30 years since we walked across the sanctuary and received our coveted rings from the Boo and walked across the stage in May and received our Diplomas from General Grimsley and took our place as Citadel Men.  I remember them both like it was yesterday but I especially remember with all the joy we had of the overwhelming sadness that I would never be this close to a Band of Brothers that I sweated, bled, studied, partied, was inspired by and at times cried with.   That is why I love our reunions as I know you do as well because it is a time to see our family, our brothers, again and share in the old times and make new memories and stories.  Ralph and Ken and the previous reunion committee members have done an incredible job making each and every reunion momentous and better than the last.   I am anticipating that our 30th will continue this tradition and be the best ever with the most attendance. I have already heard from some of our classmates doing the biggest loser strong & fit challenge that they have not attended reunions in the past for this reason or that but this challenge has motivated them to be there at our 30th.
